Through fiction, you can escape into a world that isn’t your life, but can help you to deal with it.”

            -Matt Haig, author

“We lose ourselves in what we read, only to return to ourselves, transformed and part of a more expansive world.”

            –Judith Butler, author and theorist

Did you know that reading is good for your mental health as well as for your interpersonal relationships? For instance, psychologists from the New School for Social Research noted in 2013 that reading literature improved one’s ability to register and read other people’s emotions.

The Morrin Centre welcomes visitors during its regular library hours to explore book displays on mental health (free for members; $5 for non-members). Current Library hours are: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   They are located at 44 Chaussée des Écossais, Québec, QC G1R 4H3. Please visit their website to learn more about the Morrin Centre.
