With “caller” Hélène Fournier, pianist Manon Turcotte, and accordionist Lise Turcotte, you are in for a treat during this workshop on Île d’Orléans dances! Hailing from Île d’Orléans, Manon and Lise gained (some of) their musical talents during the famous dance parties organized by Madame Audet as early as the 1970s. They now carry the music that will make you dance thanks to the help of caller Hélène Fournier, who teaches dances such as the Lancier, the Calédonia, and the Quadrille!
To learn more about Manon Turcotte, listen to Ès TRAD’s podcast “Porter la tradition.”
In the Ballroom—Traditional Music and Dance of a Community is presented in collaboration with the Centre de valorisation du patrimoine vivant Ès TRAD and made possible thanks to financial support from the Gouvernement du Québec and Ville de Québec through their cultural development agreement.
