Nearly one in four adult Canadians report some hearing loss. In older adults, hearing loss often happens gradually over time. This loss can easily go undetected. It may interfere with communication and often leaves seniors feeling quite isolated and misunderstood. It can become a common source of frustration for caregivers. However, support is available. Join us for a joint information session with a hearing care specialist and the Association des personnes avec une déficience de l’audition. It’s time to get back to, or start for the first time, power yoga.
What is power yoga? It is the fitness type of yoga, based on the Indian tradition of Astanga yoga, adapted to Western yoga practitioners by an American yogi Beryl Bender Birch. Power yoga tones and stretches your muscles. A class follows a flow of warm up, sun salutations, standing and seated poses, ending with breathing exercises and relaxation. You learn how to better control your mind, and feel toned and empowered in your body. Music and essential oils accompany us to a deeper experience.
My Susa Sparkle Yoga lessons take place on Mondays 7:30-8:30pm.
Address: 78 rue Sainte Ursule (church lower hall), Old Quebec. Free parking.
Lessons start on Monday January 13th at 7:30pm with a free class.
You are welcome to come and try it out alone or with a friend.
Baby Chat Café offers a special oasis that allows parents of babies up to one year of age the chance to get together and chat about a variety of parenting issues. Come exchange information and make some new friends. Parents-to-be are also welcome to attend. Enjoy each other’s company, free parking and snacks. Come as you are and chill with us. We’re going to talk about baby blues. Our scale is available for you to weigh your baby. Older siblings are welcome too.
No need to register – it’s a drop-in that runs from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. Great way to meet other moms and dads and learn something new about parenting. We will provide a parking voucher so feel free to park in the hospital parking lot. Hope to see you there!

It’s normal to feel that after-holiday let down when all the festivities of the season end, the credit card bills roll in, and the coldest weather, snow, and ice make us housebound. The feelings of melancholy accompanying this period are commonly known as the January Blahs. When should we take notice that the January Blahs are more serious or have turned into depression? Depression is a mood disorder accompanied by feelings of sadness, anger, and loss that can affect a person’s every-day activities. Sadness doesn’t always mean depression. Join us for this timely videoconference with presenter, Yvonne Clark, Clinical Social Worker and Grief Counselor, to learn more about the difference between feeling down or blue and full-blown depression.
This activity is made possible thanks to funding from:
