In partnership with Carrefour d’action interculturelle (CAI), we invite you to a special screening of Le Labyrinthe | The Maze, a compelling documentary by Clarissa Rebouças that offers a rare glimpse into the lives of immigrants as they navigate the complexities of starting over in Quebec City.
This film follows the stories of eight immigrants, many of whom hold precarious or undocumented status. Through their personal journeys, they reveal the intricate challenges and small triumphs they encounter as they work to rebuild their lives in a foreign land. From cultural barriers to navigating bureaucracy, each story sheds light on the resilience, determination, and hope that keeps them going.
Le Labyrinthe | The Maze is more than a film; it’s a window into the often unseen struggles and courage that define the immigrant experience. Join VEQ for a unique guided tour through the Us. The Collections exhibition at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. This tour offers an in-depth look at the museum’s vast collection, from the early days of French colonization to contemporary works, exploring how art reflects Québec’s history, territory, and collective identity.
Us. The Collections delves into three universal themes: identities, migrations, and territories. With 69 diverse artworks from ancient, modern, and contemporary artists, the exhibition invites reflection on our shared and individual experiences. It explores questions of self-representation, the impact of stereotypes, and the significance of migration and land in shaping identity.
After the tour, we will take a moment to gather at the Café Québecor
Transportation
If you need transportation from the Jeffery Hale Pavilion, please book a transportation ticket, which will be refunded after checking in at the meeting point (Jeffery Hale Pavillion)!
- This ticket can be booked or cancelled up to 48 hours before the event.
- A $5 refund will be processed within 5-10 business days for those who are present at the meeting point for transportation.
- Transportation is available only for children aged 4 and older.
- Please ensure that you need transportation before booking a seat, as VEQ will cover the service fees for processing cancellations.
If you require wheelchair-accessible transportation, have special needs, or have any other questions, please get in touch with Viktoria at newcomers@veq.ca.
At VEQ, our goal is to provide access to a variety of activities for everyone in our community. However, we’ve noticed that our free transportation service has experienced a significant number of no-shows, which has unfortunately led to wasted resources that could have been used to fund other exciting activities for all.
To help ensure that everyone who needs a ride can rely on the service, starting in February 2025, we will be requesting a deposit of $5 to $10 to reserve a spot for transportation (for information, the minimum cost to rent a bus is $275 plus applicable taxes). The deposit will be refunded to participants who attend the activity they reserved transportation for.
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore art, history, and community in a truly unique setting. Open to all!
