Photography and Creative Writing for Youth
Jul 30 @ 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

If you’re aged between 14-16 years old, join us at the Wellness Centre at Jeffery Hale for five weeks this summer for fun workshops focusing on photography and creative writing in collaboration with LOVE (Québec).

Develop new photography skills during the photography workshops!  LOVE will bring semi-professional cameras and teach participants how to use them through various kinds of photography (portraiture, close up, black and white, etc.).

The creative writing and group discussion workshops will highlight various social topics such as diversity and inclusion, social standards and media safety (to name a few!) with the intention of reflecting on how these social aspects affect the participants, and their peers, on a daily basis.

There will also be time for sharing personal stories and developing active listening skills during these workshops.

Registration required.  Participants are requested to attend all five sessions.

Register here.

“Arts Alive! Quebec” Festival
Aug 16 – Aug 17 all day

On Friday, August 16th, and Saturday, August 17th, join us on the Chaussée des Écossais for two days of free concerts and activities! In case of rain, the festival will take place indoors, in the Morrin Centre ballroom.

The Arts Alive! Quebec Festival is back for its tenth year in 2024! The whole family can join the celebration with concerts, contests, performances, and more. All activities are free and require no registration.

The festival programming will be revealed in July.

The Arts Alive! Quebec festival started as an initiative by the English-language Arts Network, a not-for-profit organization that connects, supports, and promotes Quebec’s English-speaking artists and art communities. Over the past years, several regions throughout the province have participated in Arts Alive! Quebec. These festivals have featured their local artistic communities with events reflecting local tastes and customs. Arts Alive! Quebec is an opportunity to come together and to celebrate local English-language creativity while building bridges between English-speaking and French-speaking communities.

This project is made possible by the support of the Government of Canada and of Québecor.
