Practice your Interviewing skills
May 3 @ 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

A successful job search often comes down to the interview moment, where one gets to impress the potential employer. With the upcoming regional job fair on the horizon (on May 6 & 7), we in partnership with the FORT program would like to help you prepare for this very important step in your job search.

The moment of truth has come. You sent your CV and cover letters and now you are being called for an interview… In other circumstances, you would be relatively nervous, but you are now living in Québec City and chances are the interview will be in French or at least part of it. No need to panic! We are collaborating with the FORT program to offer you the possibility of practicing your French interviewing skills. At the end of it, you will be better equipped in terms of what kind of questions you can expect when interviewing in French, and how to prepare your selling points in the aforementioned language. Now, if your interviews are most likely to be carried out in English, then by all means you can practice in English!

Newcomers’ Game Night
Jun 16 @ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

We understand how stressful the past years have been, which is why we’d like to continue providing you with opportunities to let it all out in a fun, amicable, relaxed environment, and what better way than by playing board games, or card games, and sharing with new friends? One of the things we missed the most was the spontaneity and no one feels like registering anymore, we get it! However, since we will be providing refreshments (juice, coffee, tea, hot cocoa) and snacks, we’d like to have an idea of how many people to expect so we can plan accordingly. Having said this, please take a minute to register here! Feel free to bring along a friend, classmate, or partner.

We have two dozens of new games for you to explore and enjoy, most of them in English (or that can be played in any language) and a good amount in French as well, for the intrepid ones that would like to practice their French skills.

Interpretive Hike for Newcomers
Jul 16 @ 10:45 AM – 4:00 PM

If you are coming by car to the departing point (1270, chemin Sainte-Foy) you can park your vehicle for free in the parking lot behind the Jeffery Hale Pavilion. I will give you a parking ticket that will waive the fees. We will leave at 10:45 AM, so please plan accordingly. The bus will take us to the Discovery & Services Centre, situated on km 10 from the park’s entrance. The tour is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM. The interpretive tour will take two hours to be completed. Upon return to the Discovery Centre, participants can take some time to explore a bit more the picnic area, and the souvenir shop or simply relax while feeling the cool breeze of the Jacques-Cartier river.  We will head back to Québec City at 3:15 PM.

A naturalist guide will take us on a two-hour hike through the Les Cascades trail. It is categorized as an easy trail, perfect for beginners, a leisure walk, families, or sightseers, with a length of only 4 km.

VEQ will provide FREE transportation to all participants, as well as will cover the fee for the SÉPAQ naturalist. The interpretive hike will be in English (the naturalist guide is bilingual though). Each participant MUST obtain the ticket on Eventbrite. It is $9.25 per adult and free for minors (17-year-old and under). If you already have a valid annual pass to the SÉPAQ (Québec’s provincial parks), then please get your ticket using the child’s admission option.

What to bring:

Comfortable shoes and clothes, water, snacks, a change of clothes in case it rains, your smile!

*Limited capacity of 25 participants (including children)*

*A newcomer is anyone who moved to the Greater Québec City Region in the past 5 years.
