Treating different forms of addiction – My job as a Social Worker in a therapy center
Myriam Paquin, Psychosocial intervention worker
Abstract : After obtaining a certificate in Psychology and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Social work at Université Laval, Myriam started working at Centre CASA, a therapy center dedicated to helping adults (men and women) living with addiction problems (alcohol, drugs, medication, gambling, cyberaddiction, etc.). She has also recently joined the intervention team dealing more specifically with people who wear or have worn a uniform (military, police, correctional officers, etc.) and simultaneously suffer from a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and addiction problems. In this presentation, she will talk about her reality as a social worker working with a voluntary clientele struggling with addiction and the different challenges that these people and those around them might face. She will also be able to address any questions related to addiction, as it is a problem that affects many people in the population, whether it be directly or indirectly.
