Guest speaker edition of the Parents and Petits Get-together
Join us at this get-together featuring a guest speaker from the Centre Mosaïque de Québec, a speech language pathologist who will talk about bilingualism, myths about learning multiple languages, and ways to support the communication needs of children under five growing up in a multicultural context. Topics to be covered include the following:
- How bilingualism and multilingualism impact language development.
- What is expected in bilingual language development.
- Why it is important to support the home language in a minority-language context.
- How to recognize potential challenges and support bilingualism for children living with difficulties.
- Preparing children for school entry in a language other than what is spoken at home.
Parents and Petits is an activity for English-speaking families with babies and pre-school aged children that combines our former Take-a-Break, Baby Chat and Café au lait.
- The space is set up to give English-speaking pre-school aged children a chance to play and interact.
- Parents must stay on-site.
- Vouchers provided to cover the cost of parking
- Drop-in, no registration required. Hope to see you there!
