The Ancient Egyptians believed that after you died you had a perilous journey to make through the Underworld to get to the Afterlife. The Book of the Dead was like a passport filled with spells and tips on how to travel through this treacherous land unharmed, in order to face theultimate challenge, the Weighing of the Heart Ceremony.
This presentation features artifacts from the Royal Ontario Museum’s world famous Gallery of Ancient Egypt, including the 2,300 year-old Book ofthe Dead of Amen-em-hat.
