Registered Nurse

Person in charge of a series of nursing care activities based on bio-psycho-social needs of clients or a group of people entrusted to him/her. He/she assesses the level of health, determines and ensures the implementation of the therapeutic nursing plan, the nursing care and treatment plan for clients with complex health problems or with various bio-psycho-social issues. He/she initiates and provides nursing and medical care and treatment in order to maintain and restore health and prevent illness. He/she may prescribe laboratory tests, treatments, supplies, medications and dressings in the areas of wound care, public health and general care according to the regulations in effect.

He/she designs, implements and evaluates care programs requiring advanced knowledge, aimed at complex health problems or those with various bio-psycho-social aspects. He/she participates in the development or adaptation of clinical and quality of care evaluation tools. He/she coordinates teamwork and plays an advisory role within the care team and the interdisciplinary team.

He/she identifies, for clients, the needs and procedures requiring coordination of services within the institution and between the various institutions or organizations in the community. He/she ensures, when necessary, the coordination of these services.

He/she ensures the integration of new personnel and participates in the training of new staff members. He/she supervises the teaching given to clients, their families and groups of people in specific programs and participates in research.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or one with three (3) eligible qualifications, including at least two (2) recognized certificates in the nursing field and be a member of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec.

* Candidates will have the opportunity to work with the English-speaking community with the following types of clientele: geriatric, early childhood, childhood, psychiatric disorders and home support. A certain level of English is required, depending on the setting. An English test will be required.
