THE POSITION

The teacher of the Social Participation Program (SPP) will support students with special needs in developing their functional, social, and life skills, thereby fostering greater autonomy and improved integration into the community. Our team is committed to providing an inclusive environment where every student is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and facilitate adapted learning activities focused on communication, socialization, autonomy, and life skills;
  • Develop differentiated educational programs and deliver instruction that responds to each student’s individual needs;
  • Create a respectful, inclusive, safe, and engaging classroom environment;
  • Monitor student progress and adjust pedagogical approaches as needed;
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, community partners, and school staff to provide comprehensive support to students;
  • Encourage participation in community-based learning experiences;
  • Contribute to school life and extracurricular activities, ensure the safety and well-being of students, and take part in meetings and the ongoing development of the program.

General Skills

  • Hold or be in the process of obtaining a valid teaching certificate issued by the Quebec Ministry of Education (MEQ);
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English, along with a good knowledge of French;
  • Show a genuine passion for teaching and supporting student success;
  • Adapt to the specific needs of each student;
  • Design effective teaching approaches that consider different developmental levels and student abilities;
  • Stay current with educational programs and pedagogical research;
  • Adjust lesson plans and demonstrate flexibility in lesson planning;
  • Apply compassionate and effective classroom management strategies tailored to student profiles;
  • Maintain student motivation to help them reach their full potential;
  • Have relevant experience working with students with special needs (an asset).
