Jazz Divas!

From the first vocalists who cut their teeth as “girl singers” in the big bands of the 1930s to their daughters who honed their skills with the musicians of the bebop period, to their granddaughters who participated in the jazz revival of the 1980s. León Samuel will present ladies from three generations of jazz singers. We will talk about people who influenced and/or mentored them and the battles they had to fight before and even after breaking through. Most importantly, we will talk about their instrument ─ their voice ─ and let the music speak for itself. We will add a few words about their personal life which, very often, was far from being happy.
