About Arts Alive! Québec
Six different regions, with performances and activities for the whole family from June through September. The six regions are Hudson, Huntingdon, Knowlton, Quebec City, Wakefield and the West Island/Montreal. Letters of ongoing support were instrumental in the series’ return. Some communities focus around a main venue and its environs, others transform the entire town. Programming is highly individual, reflecting local tastes, arts and cultures. There’s something different to experience and savour at each region’s event, from local artists and visiting headliners to children’s shows, dance, theatre, literary activities, storytelling, visual arts, loads of music and artisanal products. On offer are indoor and outdoor events for all ages, including hands-on creative activities led by professional musicians, theatre artists, dancers, filmmakers and craftspeople. Through the universal language of art, Arts Alive! Québec’s inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere builds bridges between English-speaking and French-speaking communities.
COMEDIHA! FEST–QUÉBEC MISSION

Storytelling has been the most effective way of memorably communicating since the first utterances of our species. It connects us, links us to our past and present, and offers a glimpse into our future. It’s a means to a collective and shared memory, a basis for tradition and a conduit for the most fundamental aspects of culture. Come explore the art and science of storytelling as Joseph Ramunni traces its roots from our earliest traditions to modern films and finally, to the tweets that shape today’s political landscape.

This two-part workshop will introduce participants to creative music-making with iPads and other simple digital musical instruments. Digital musical instruments (including iPads) offer an inclusive opportunity for collaboration and creative expression through music. Participants will be guided in musical activities, which will include improvisation, song-making, exploration of sound, and learning to play personally meaningful songs with digital instruments.
Prior musical experience is not necessary – Andrea’s approach is based on the idea that we are ALL musicians, and her aim is to explore the ways in which technology can provide us with the means to engage with music-making.
NOTE: This is a two-day workshop and, although not mandatory, it is suggested that participants be available for both dates. iPads will be supplied for each participant.
Workshop 1: Tuesday, 13 November, 10 – 12pm
