Joana is based in Lisbon, Portugal, and her graphic novels\u00a0The Mongoose<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Physical Education<\/em><\/a>\u00a0are published by Pow Pow (Montr\u00e9al) in both English and French. Don\u2019t miss this rare chance to meet, learn from, and be inspired by one of the one of the most important emerging talents in the European comics scene!<\/p>\n

6:30 to 7:30 p.m. \u2013 Workshop<\/em><\/p>\n

During this workshop, the participants will be challenged to write, draw, and build their own one-sheet-zine, with or without prior experience. The purpose is to have fun and have no fear to explore new ideas on the paper and beyond.<\/p>\n

7:30 to 9:00 p.m. \u2013 Author Meet & Greet\/Q&A<\/em><\/p>\n

Meet Joana Mosi and learn more about her work during this conversation with fellow cartoonist Magnus Merklin. Copies of Joana\u2019s books, in both English and French, will be available to purchase and get signed.<\/p>\n

Guest<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joana Mosi is an award-winning visual artist and cartoonist based in Lisbon, Portugal. Born and raised close to the sea, Joana has a really hard time sitting still in one place for a long time (which is a problem when your job requires you to spend lots of time at a drawing table) so she ends up traveling a lot, participating in art residencies and comics festivals across the globe. While she\u2019s planning her next artistic endeavour, she stays fresh by teaching (and learning from) new generations of creators. Her book The Mongoose<\/em>\u00a0won the Jorge Magalh\u00e3es Award for Outstanding Story in 2024, and\u00a0Physical Education<\/em>\u00a0was the first-ever graphic novel to be a National Illustration Award of Portugal Highlight Book.<\/p>\n
