Join us for five exciting events celebrating qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois dance and music traditions, some of which are rooted in English-speaking communities that have long helped shape our province\u2019s cultural landscape. If you are curious, love living heritage activities, or simply want to move and have fun, come experience the energy of traditional dances and the stories behind them with our\u00a0\u00c8s TRAD<\/a>\u00a0guests!<\/p>\n

On February 10, let yourself be drawn into a journey of rhythm, where the qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois jig dances with its cousins from elsewhere, with\u00a0Maude Filion and Sabin Jacques (accordion).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maude Fillion<\/strong>\u00a0d\u00e9couvre la danse traditionnelle alors qu\u2019elle est toute jeune et fera ensuite partie de la troupe de spectacle de la compagnie de danse\u00a0Manigance<\/em>\u00a0pendant plus de 10 ans avant d\u2019en assurer la direction artistique pendant 5 ans. Elle a dans\u00e9 sur plusieurs sc\u00e8nes diff\u00e9rentes dans 7 pays, incluant plus de 15 ans dans le spectacle invit\u00e9 sur les bateaux de croisi\u00e8res qui accostent dans le port du Vieux-Qu\u00e9bec. En parall\u00e8le, elle enseigne la gigue et la danse traditionnelle qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise depuis 2004, entre autre pour le Club Gigus. En 2022, elle rejoint le groupe celtique\u00a0McCool<\/em>\u00a0et en 2023, elle rejoint la distribution du Match d\u2019improvisation gigu\u00e9e, qui tourne actuellement dans diff\u00e9rentes salles au Qu\u00e9bec. R\u00e9cemment boursi\u00e8re du Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Qu\u00e9bec et du Conseil des Arts du Canada, Maude s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 d\u2019autres types de gigue et se forme aupr\u00e8s de plusieurs\u00a0mentor(e)s. Elle se questionne sur les variations techniques qui les diff\u00e9rencient ou les relient \u00e0 la gigue qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise.<\/p>\n

Sabin Jacques<\/strong>\u00a0s\u2019est taill\u00e9 une brillante r\u00e9putation dans le milieu de la musique traditionnelle qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise. Gasp\u00e9sien d\u2019origine, il est reconnu dans son milieu autant au Qu\u00e9bec que sur la sc\u00e8ne internationale. De 1992 \u00e0 2009, il fait d\u2019importantes rencontres avec des artistes populaires : \u00c9dith Butler, Hugues Aufray, Jean-Pierre Ferland et Gr\u00e9gory Charles. Il participe \u00e0 l\u2019hommage \u00e0 Alfred Montmarquette qu\u2019initie le regrett\u00e9 harmoniciste Gabriel Labb\u00e9. Install\u00e9 en Chaudi\u00e8re-Appalaches depuis 2009, il cofonde le Camp de Souches \u00e0 Oreilles, haut lieu bouillonnant de transmission en patrimoine vivant. Sabin a permis, en tant que formateur, \u00e0 des centaines de musiciennes et musiciens, amateurs ou professionnels, de s\u2019initier ou d\u2019approfondir leurs connaissances de la musique traditionnelle du Qu\u00e9bec. R\u00e9cemment d\u00e9cor\u00e9 de plusieurs prix en lien avec son dernier album intitul\u00e9\u00a0Grandes Rencontres<\/em>, Sabin Jacques poss\u00e8de jeu sensible et virtuose.<\/p>\n
