SUMMARY:Artistic Connections: Choral Singing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Come sing and enjoy the resonating sounds at this first event of our new series\, Artistic Connections! \n\n\n\n\nThis workshop offers a rare and rewarding opportunity to learn about choral singing and to have fun singing together. This activity is open to singers of all types\, and to adults and children aged eight and up. No experience is necessary. The session will focus on basic singing techniques. \nThe program:\n– short introduction to the history of choral singing\n– warm-up exercises and guided listening activities\n– learn the melody and lyrics of a new song and sing in harmony with other voices\n– share special or favourite songs with each other \nWorkshop Facilitator \nKatharina Urbschat has been singing and exploring the art of choral singing since her early youth\, conducting choirs in Germany and in Quebec for over thirty years. In her work\, she is guided by the ideas of the Orff method and its principles of Elementary Music Education. \nShe approaches her choir members in an open and creative atmosphere where everyone can develop their innate ability to sing and hone their listening skills and vocal expression. \nDue to her bicultural roots\, Katharina especially enjoys creating and participating in intercultural concerts\, workshops\, projects\, and events. \n  \n\nThis activity is part of the Artistic Connections – Creating Intergenerational Bonds project that is made possible thanks to support from the Government of Canada.
