DESCRIPTION:Beyond appearances: Understanding eating disorders is a workshop given in English by Anorexia and Bulimia Québec (ANEB) informing about eating disorders and how to support and communicate with someone living with an eating problem. \nThrough this 1.5 hour workshop given on Zoom\, you will have an opportunity to learn about the following: \n\nChallenges related to body image.\nUnderstanding the problems caused by different eating disorders.\nSpotting the signs that someone may have an eating problem.\nFactors that may make someone more likely to develop an eating disorder.\nInformation about new types of eating problems like bigorexia\, binge-eating disorder and alcoholorexia.\nLearning about grossophobia\, the fear or hatred of overweight people\, and how it can harm others.\nHow to think carefully (develop a critical eye) about messages from the diet industry and society about how you should look.\nCommunicating with and helping someone who has an eating disorder\, while also knowing your limits as a caregiver.\n\nYou will also find out more about the organisation ANEB Québec including their mission and the different services that they provide. \nRegister here. \nYou will receive the Zoom link by email when you register.  We will send a reminder email with the Zoom link one day before the workshop. \nANEB-Québec \nAnorexia and Bulimia Québec (ANEB) is a non-profit organization that guarantees free\, immediate and specialized help to people with an eating disorder and to their loved ones.  Their help and reference line is available 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m. at 1 800 630-0907 or 514 630-0907. \n  \n\n\nQuestions? \nFor more information about Beyond appearances: Understanding eating disorders\, please contact Verity\, WE Mind Mental Health Program Coordinator\, by email or phone at 418-684-5333\, ext. 11932. \n\n\n \nThe views expressed herein do not necessarily represent the views of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
