SUMMARY:Lifelong Learning: Thespian for a Day
DESCRIPTION:This event is open to all adults age 50+ in the Quebec City area. \nFacilitator:Meb Reisner\, Lifelong Learning Member \nSession 3 of 4: Become a thespian for a day as the Lifelong Learning room transforms into the Globe Theatre with a reading of William Shakespeare’s“The Tempest”! Each week\, participants will choose a character at random to read aloud while our facilitator discusses the play. \nThe Tempest is a “bewitching play” and Shakespeare’s final piece of work. The story concerns Miranda\, a lovely young maiden\, and Prospero\, her philosophical old magician father\, who dwell on an enchanted island\, alone except for their servants: Ariel (an invisible spirit) and Caliban (a monstrous witch’s son). The Tempest contains some of Shakespeare’s most familiar and oft-quoted lines and is a story of comedy\, romance\, and reconciliation. \nTO REGISTER: email info@lifelonglearningquebec.org Programme Coordinator or call418.681.1258. Space is limited. \nSign up for the Lifelong Learning mailing list to notification of upcoming activities.

SUMMARY:Picture This – Photography Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:Discover the fundamentals of photography with professional photographer Jacques Gaines. \nWith the help of professional photographer Jacques Gaines\, the Morrin Centre offers a series of five photography workshops. Each workshop will present a different aspect of photography\, from framing to photo-editing. \nIn this workshop\, Gaines will be introducing participants to the fundamentals of photography. \nParticipants may either audit the workshop (attend just to watch) or bring the following items to actively participate in the exercises: \nA camera. Whether a $100 camera or a $5000 camera\, we do not care. Anything goes! It can even be your phone\, though it should then be a fairly recent phone.\nThe picture you are most proud of. It can be a digital copy or a print. (You do not have to show it to the class). \nIn addition to that\, please:\nDress for the weather outside. After the workshop\, for those willing\, the teacher will sometimes do a small photo walk if we have the time.\nMake sure you have eaten before coming. It’s not fun having a student in a bad mood! \nFull details here!
