| Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. – Cornell University Chorus concert on the theme of “Visions and Dreams” at Chalmers-Wesley United Church, 78 Rue Ste-Ursule. Admission $20. The 46-voice university choir, from Ithaca, New York, will perform music from the 16th century to the present day in five different languages. They explore music that conveys a vision, or relates a dream, or simply induces in the listener a dreamlike state. They will also present their 2018 commission from Australian composer Melissa Dunphy, who dove bravely into the vivid, unsettling poetry of the anarchist Lola Ridge (1873-1941). |
