THE POSITION

You will embody the heart of our educational mission through your caring approach and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, driving the application of a variety of special education methods geared towards providing each young person with the support they need to thrive and succeed, whatever their background and needs.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in synergy with the teaching team, families and external resources to provide targeted support for students with special needs.
  • Innovate in support methods and design customized learning strategies.
  • Contribute actively, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, to the creation, development and implementation of personalized intervention plans.
  • Monitor student progress and encourage an open, stimulating environment conducive to learning.
  • Develop, organize and lead diversified activities to reinforce various student competencies.
  • Provide direct academic support, particularly in basic skills, lessons and homework.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to supporting students in their adaptation and behavioral management, using optimal and adapted communication techniques.
  • Provide information on social issues and refer students and their families to specialized resources, as needed.
  • Manage the supervision of students requiring specific follow-up after sanctions and organize their school reintegration.
  • Ensure the safety and support of students requiring special attention during school transportation, if necessary.
  • Rigorously document observations and interventions, keep student files up to date, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Manage the administration of medication according to medical and school guidelines, and intervene in first aid, if necessary.
  • Guide and train new team members and supervise support staff tasks related to technical operations.
  • Carry out any additional tasks adapted to emerging needs.

General skills

  • Hold a college diploma in Special Education Techniques or a diploma/certificate recognized as equivalent.
  • Be fluent in written and oral English. Knowledge of French would be an asset.
  • Have experience with students with behavioral and academic difficulties.
  • Valid first-aid certificate.
