The development of new initiatives that benefit Quebec’s English-speaking community is also one of the objectives of Voice of English-speaking Québec’s (VEQ) mission. The Expanding Horizons Project is a two-year project being carried out by VEQ and funded by the Government of Canada, through the Community Innovation Fund. More information about the fund can be found in the following link: http://qcgn.ca/community-innovation-fund/

The main objective of this important project is to develop community, private and public partnerships to create work-plateaus and concrete work opportunities in the Greater Quebec City region, for English-speaking special needs and at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 29.

VEQ has been active in promoting this project with key resources working both with the special needs and at-risk youth of our community. Several work-plateaus have been created and identified while continuing to engage local businesses and community partners to develop on-the-job training experiences for potential beneficiaries.
