The Valcartier Family Centre (VFC) is a community organization that is governed by military families and that welcomes and supports individuals and their families from the moment they enter the military community until their return to the civilian community. At the heart of the military community of Eastern Quebec, the VFC

Type of employment: Full time, 35 hours/week
Duration: 6 month contract (replacement during an unpaid leave of absence)
Location: Valcartier Family Centre (about 10 minutes from Val Belair)
Start date: As soon as possible
Summary of duties
Provide counselling services for military families (children, adolescents, and adults) facing challenging situations and refer them to the appropriate resources if their situation requires specific expertise and/or long-term treatment. Organize, lead and take part in various group activities within the department.
Experience providing short-term psychosocial services for individuals, families and couples
Group intervention experience
Experience working in community services
Understanding of and ability to put into practice an empowerment-based philosophy and approach
Effective interpersonal skills and strong team player
Ability to work in an adaptable, autonomous, and resourceful manner
Strong ability to work under pressure and to set priorities
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
Member of the professional corporation (OTSTCFQ)
At least two (2) years relevant experience providing short-term services for individuals, families and
Availability to work at least two (2) evenings a week (possibility of occasionally working three (3)
Fluent in English and French, oral and written (capacity to conduct interviews in English)
Knowledge of the military lifestyle (an asset)
