Quebec City Reading Council, Adult and Family Literacy Resource Centre, (QCRC) is a volunteer-based not-for profit literacy organization.  QCRC promotes and supports lifelong learning for adults 16+ through a variety of free programmes.  All QCRC’s services and programmes are delivered in English.  QCRC is funded by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur.

Post:  Lead Tutor

Responsibilities:

  • Tutoring students one-on-one or in small group classes in one or more of the following subjects – English, Math and Computer skills
  • Ensuring students’ goals are recorded
  • Maintaining accurate records of non-academic student progress
  • Maintaining student participation records
  • Liaising with QCRC staff and professional adult education personnel

 

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Ability to provide tutoring support in math up to the secondary three level
  • Excellent grasp of computer technology particularly Word, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite and iPad
  • Ability to work well in a team setting

 

Assets:

  • Previous or current knowledge of literacy-based tutoring
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector

 

Schedule:

  • Generally, but may be subject to some change, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:30 to 15:30
  • Starting date August/September 2017

 

QCRC provides support services to students enrolled in various adult education programmes.  Training for the Lead Tutor post will be provided by QCRC.  The pay rate will be commensurate with previous knowledge and experience.  All tutoring materials will be provided.
