My name is Nicole Gallant. I am a university professor-researcher at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Quebec. I am contacting you because I am looking for people to participate in a study about employment among English-speaking recent immigrants in the province of Quebec.

With several other professors and graduate students, we are seeking to assess the specific challenges and opportunities of English-speaking immigrants in Quebec with regards to employment. We also wish to learn about your relationship with the province.

We are looking for
• Recent immigrants (permanent residents who have arrived in Canada in the last five years);
• Who have English as their primary official language (i.e. that English is your first or your preferred official language);
• We are seeking people of any age and from any country of origin.

If you are interested in and available to participate in this study, we would like to meet with you for a 90-minute interview, during which we would discuss the ways in which you have sought or found employment in Quebec in recent years. The interview will be audio recorded, but your participation will remain anonymous – we will not mention your name in any report or publication about this study. The study is paid for by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), but they will never have access to the names of the participants nor to the recordings and transcriptions of the interviews.

A 30$ financial compensation is offered for your trouble.

You may contact Alexandra Martin ( 438-832-2539) for more information or to set up a time and place for the interview.
Your participation would be extremely helpful for this study and I am very grateful for your assistance. However, you are of course free to accept or decline this invitation.

I sincerely hope that you will be interested in our study and that you will agree to participate!
Thank you,
Nicole Gallant, PhD
